Plot Summary:
Our heroes, the Extraordinary Gentlemen, are part of a huge crowd of people staring at a crater, where an alien spaceship has just landed. They witness frightening creatures getting out of the ship and set lots of the humans on fire. Watching this attack, Dr. Jekyll gets out of control and transforms to the monstrous Mr Hyde. After a short briefing by Campion Bond, the League enters a guesthouse, where a very personal meeting between Hyde and Mina Murray takes places.

Meanwhile, Hawley Griffin, the Invisible Man, uses his gift to approach the Martians. and submits them a surprising offer...

Comments:
The plot is following the first chapters of H.G. Wells SF-classic 'War of the Worlds' very accurately (if you count out the League Members).

The backup feature 'The New Traveller's Almanac Part 2' took me much more time to read than the comic book story. It's a laborious read, but combined with Jess Nevins' Annotations it's great fun to see Alan Moore throwing around references to literature from all ages (Homer, Kafka, Eco...) and constructing this travel guide. Additionally, the Almanac gives some hints about past and future incarnations of the League.
