Plot Summary:
The British army attacks the alien invaders but the creatures strike back furiously. The people react by fleeing as fast as they can and also the League members are heading back to their London headquarter. There they have a meeting with Mycroft Holmes (the new M) who tells Mina to stay and study some literature about Mars, while Nemo, Quatermain and Hyde return to the place where the aliens had landed. During their journey, they encounter a tripod, a machine designed by the Martians in order to move on the Earth's surface.
Not only Mina is staying in London, but also invisible Griffin. When Mina is recognizing his presence, he starts attacking and beating her. Now the secret is out: Griffin is a traitor.
After that, Nemo and Hyde enter the Nautilus in order to help defending the river Thames. Mina and Quatermain are told to meet an unknown scientist somewhere in the woods.
Comments:
This issue shows Moore's and O'Neill's great storytelling abilities. Most fascinating are the dark and creepy scenes in the thunderstorm and the gorgeous fight between Mina and the Invisible Man.
